Thank you!

I wanted to thank everyone who came out to Hugh’s Room on Wednesday, November 12th for the Isabel & The Uncommons CD release party. It was such a magical and fun night! The room was packed! The band rocked! Steve Briggs, on electric guitar, entertained the crowd with cool licks and hot riffs. Don Kerr, on drums, kept far more than the beat — poised at the very heart of each song.  Classic bassist, Dennis Pendrith, laid down the groove, as divine as ever, an absolute pleasure to have on stage and play with. Rosalyn Dennett’s sweet soulful harmonies, fiddle playing and banjo brought ever so much to the sound. And, adding to this already tasty mix, was the multi-talented Dave Matheson on piano and acoustic guitar. Then, to top it all off, Rebecca Campbell provided imaginative harmonies and additional percussion. What more can I say? The Uncommons and guests were “uncommonly” good!

I have to confess that, on the day of the performance, I was feeling, well, a bit nervous. But once I got up on the stage, and started playing with the band, I felt their shared energy, along with the love projected by all those who had come out to hear us. It was thus easy for me to open my heart and sing my songs with unabashed freedom. It seemed perfect to end the evening with a cover of the Everly Brothers’ “Long Time Gone,” performing a duet with the talented Erika Werry whom I was so happy to have invited to open the show.

My good friend, Lori Whelan, captured the evening, taking some great photos, which I’ve posted on Facebook and my website, and videographer, James McGee from The View from the Corner Stool also took a couple of videos and uploaded them onto YouTube for me to share.

If you haven’t bought a CD yet, you can now purchase your own copy of Hearts and Arrows online via my website or via the Isabel Fryszberg Music page on Facebook. It’s also available on CD baby and Bandcamp. I’m delighted and honoured to say that it’s gotten some great reviews, and some colleagues in the biz have also made glowing comments.

Hey, for those who missed the launch, check out my tracks for yourself on my new CBC website page and put Isabel & The Uncommons on your favorite playlist. And please stay tuned, folks! I will be listing future gigs soon!
